Carey Van Driest began performing as a chicken-pocked Brigitta in The Sound of Music at age 9. Since then, she has appeared on stage and in film, both regionally and in New York City , where she is currently based. She performed the role of Grace Farrell in the National Tour of Annie , directed by original Broadway director, Martin Charnin and has been seen regionally as Sue in An O.Henry Christmas at Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Mrs. Joe in Great Expectations at Mill Mountain Theatre (VA), Vengeance in Two Cities , the Musical at Stamford Center for the Arts in Stamford, CT and Jenny Diver in The Threepenny Opera at Theatre Three in Dallas, TX, among others. Her New York credits include The Winter's Tale (Paulina) with Sonnet Repertory, The Importance of Being Earnest (Gwendolyn) and Arms and the Man (Louca) with the Jean Cocteau Repertory. She has workshopped several musicals and plays, her favorite of which was playing the lead in Robin Hood, the Musical, a new take on the Robin Hood legend, with Maureen McGovern. She has also performed in several short films, and has recently launched her commercial and voiceover career. She is fluent in Spanish, loves animals with a passion, and when she is not out of town, she keeps up her stage combat skills with the help of the New York based Lady Cavalier Theatre Company, of which she is an associate artist. She has performed in several shows with LCTC, as well as films, and continues to support the company's mission of promoting a stronger female image and raising awareness of historical women warriors through original productions and educational workshops that center on the art of theatrical combat.
